Haka Game Reserve is one of the lessor known parks in Harare. It is an excellent hidden gem situated near the Harare CBD, just 10 minutes away. The park offers very scenic views near the Cleveland dam, a haven of wildebeests, zebras, impalas and giraffes in a populated indigenous forested area.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and relax in the brown and green of Haka’s indigenous forest. You and your friends will enjoy walks in the wild along winding paths in the forest and the grasslands that boarder the dam. After your trails, take a breather and wet your appetite as you watch the sizzling roast on the barbeque sites.
Haka offers sites for you to braai or picnic under the sunny grasslands or the shade of the many Mopani trees in the game reserve. The barbecue area offers a brick braai stand shaded by a thatched overhang that is ideal for all kinds of weather. Light up, braai up and fill up then jump back into your vehicles and watch the wild come alive
While you can view game as you walk or braai, the best siting of wildebeests, zebras, impalas and giraffes is late afternoon as the animals come in for their final take of water before vanishing to sleep in the forest. This would be an opportune moment to click away on your cameras of take popular selfies bound to make friends and family green with envy. Catch a glimpse of the sunset across the dam as the golden rays stream along the water’s surface.
Canoeing is also available at an extra charge. Charge rates is Adults $5 and Children $3…if that’s not adventurous enough for you…BYOB…bring your own boat and the dam is at your leisure.
